Recently I attended the Romance Writers of New Zealand annual conference. In one of the sessions we spoke about our characters and one term popped up. The “To Stupid to Live” characters.
We all know them, they are the ones that we scream at in horror films because they have just run upstairs, or into the basement to hide from the killer. They are the ones that keep making the same mistakes over and over again and never seem to learn from them.
For those that don’t know, I am a big Game of Thrones fan. I have been known to search back through previous seasons to fact check something that happened in a recent episode. And as much as I love Jon Snow, (And Kit Harington is to die for) He really is just to stupid to live. Proven by the fact that he has been killed once before.
Sorry Jon but how many times do you need to be completely surrounded by your enemy, only to be rescued by a strong female character, to learn that sometimes you just need to get outta there! Yes I am yelling at the the screen. You would think from his parentage he would have a better brain on him.
I’m probably getting death looks from you all right now. Don’t get me wrong, I love this character. I love the fact that he has the best intentions at heart, and he just wants to save the world, but come on Jon, maybe leave the battle stuff to Sansa or Daenerys.
